The Challenge

Problem Statement

During peak travel periods, commuters often cluster near bus and train doors or stay close to escalator areas on train platforms, even when there is ample space in interior sections or along the platform. This leads to blocked walkways, slower passenger flow and inefficient boarding.

Design Objective

How might we leverage technology to guide or encourage commuters towards less crowded areas and enable faster, obstruction-free boarding?

What Students Will Do

Students research the commuter problem, learn relevant technology, develop a working solution and present it to judges.

Deliverables

A five-minute presentation and working prototype using the provided AI or engineering kit.

Design Objective

How can we increase public awareness to guide or encourage commuters towards less crowded areas and enable faster, obstruction-free boarding?

What Students Will Do

Students research commuter behaviour and develop a public education campaign to encourage positive behaviour change.
